Being locked down is a huge turn-off for me, and one reason I would never buy an iPhone. I don't feel like I should have to jailbreak my device to have something usable. My droid was non-rooted and I could FTP or SSH into a server, edit html, and so much more. If I had a client with trouble I could fix something simple in a pinch even sitting at a table at a restaurant. Try doing that with a Windows Phone!

FTP would be a no doer unless you have memory card addon (because of file system lock down). Since Lumia 920 don't have microSD expension slot, I haven't been drilled into this.

For SSH, there's a free SSH App avaliable already. The only drawback for me is that it doesn't support display/input Chinese characters, so can't use it to connect BBS.
