Wonder what microsoft is up to. I have used Windows XP for 10 years and i have no plans

to upgrade to Win7 or Win8 cause of major changes in the Register and  UAC.

So, either microsoft add HTML5 support and fix all Javascriptbugs or many people will

leave Windows enviroment. I will 4 sure. Not many page you can use nowdays

with IE8, javascript error or canvas is needed. I has been around since dos 6

all the way, i think i will have to leave microsoft now.. Sad

So i has been a microsoft junkie and still use XP pro and Outlook express,

but cant do it anymore. Even this forum cant handle XP Pro IE8 .

Now i cant see anymore as i type below the screen in the gray field with

copyringht 2012 Microsoft and the links. Now im off that , im out in the clear again the white

text had zero opacity, now im below the gray field. Shall i say more?

Wait... I'm still using WinXP with IE8 in my company to visit this site. What problem did you see?

@steve01: Do you realize that you can use chrome or firefox or opera on windows xp?

Are there web-sites you use that require IE6/7/8? If so that is the problem! Tell these authors that the web was made for users certainly not for developers who want the world to stop spinning.

Which other operating system do you plan migrating to that does not have a type of UAC? Most Linux distributions have it too and on OSX it's even worse: you need to give your account password to install updates or applications and you need to give your Apple ID password if you want to buy/install/update something from the App store/Itunes.

All the way ... until Windows XP where you stopped. Microsoft has moved on from XP, even if you haven't.

Good luck with your move to Linux or OSX.

@steve01: No offense, but you do understand that Microsoft is a business, right? What would be the financial logic in continuing to support Windows XP? Sorry, not going to happen. Enjoy your attempts at moving to another OS, which are going to be way more difficult for you then moving to Windows 7/8. *rolls eyes*

I recommend wiping computer and putting DOS 6.0 on...then you can have word processors, fun ASCII-based games like MORIA I used to play, you can hook up your old dot matrix printer to get more use out of it, and you can hop onto BBS to socialize with others.

@Harlequin: Trying to find a new computer with a floppy drive and a DB-25 port for your dot matrix printer should be quite fun.

You're bothered that nobody else is recommending a browser peddled by an advertising company that you have a hard-on for because they support some highly-visible open source initiatives like Android while you ignore the fact that they keep their real revenue-generating products under proprietary lock and key? Is that what you're alluding to?

You can still get text based rogue clones on windows. And of course, the inspired by Rogue Nethack

Sorry, you've lost me; what do you mean by "one of your own"?
