    @evildictaitor:

    Most people want the PC to be fixed, not wiped out and start over.

    Most people really want to run dancingbunnies.jpg.exe.

    When you've got malware that totals IE, you need to reinstall Windows. This is exactly the same as what to do when you've got malware that totals Firefox.

    You are concentrating on the symptom, not the cause. The priority is not to get IE working. It is to get the malware off your system, because pretending that a working IE means your machine is malware free makes it less likely that your banking details are safe having reinstalled IE on a malware ridden box, than if you just bit the bullet and flattened the OS to actually get rid of the malware.

    Dude. Even Microsoft purists know that IE is crap. It's just a fact of life. Whenever I get a new machine, it's a mad dash with IE to get to the Mozilla site to download FF. When you do load it up, your view is blocked by so many toolstrips and menu bars, you can only view the last inch and a half of the screen.

    Your problem was IE and your antivirus. They both failed you. Well, your "Friend" lol. Kidding.

    Just please. Stick with FireFox, one day MS might wise up and start de-crapifying internet explorer, but until that day, it's just a glichy, over advertised, ad checker.

    If i wanted to book a hotel room while googling puppies, and Asking Jeeves how to do my taxes IE would be perfect.

    Once you go FireFox, you never go back.

    I am sorry MS gods that monitor this site, but you know it's true. Hell, ever the miscrosoft website was running UNIX for the longest time as it's back bone. That being said. Visual Studio is AMAZING, and Window 7 and XP are the bomb. I hope that appeases my slamming of your IE. But you know it's true.

    2002 called. They want their opinion back.

    IE 10 != IE 6.

    Also, Firefox is terrible. Upgrade to Chrome.

    @dustbuster: 9/10 users who I help who are using Firefox and/or Chrome also have several tool bars, and using those browsers have done zero to reduce malware infections of the machine.

    evildictaitor is right: users really want to see the dancingbunnies, or anna kournikova's nakedness and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

    @kettch: yes, hence Metro Recovery is build into the OS that dramatically reduced Surface useable HDD while everyone has bitc about it. Sure users are flat fault, now, move on to recoverability already.

    Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

    Unless you need to do stuff like... print. Chrome has come a long way since it could not print at all, but even now, it still sucks at it.
