I'm not sure I like where this is going.

What happens when you take Google Glass into the men's restroom?

Scoble announced that he was headed to Amsterdam's Red Light District later in the evening, and that anyone in the crowd was welcome to follow him and his Glass.

And what happens when you take Google Glass into women's restroom?

"Malicious software controlled phone camera can still capture image from the camera len when you're not using it" is not news.

Maybe some day we'll see "No Google Glass allowed" sign on door of restrooms.

In case you missed it, someone already did and not just on restroom doors.

Might seem premature, but the problem is real. Aside of the obvious places, like restrooms and changing rooms, I can't think of public places where people would feel comfortable having someone pointing a camera at them.

Scoble really is desperate for attention and relevancy these days.

You know if you want to take videos of people without them knowing there is better stuff you can use besides Glass.

@Bass: that's true, but I think this is more a matter of perception than privacy. The fact someone can take pictures on the sly doesn't make openly waving a camera any more socially acceptable.

Yup, but a lot of the covert stuff requires a little setup (find suitable bag, cut hole in it, put in a video camera etc.). The Glass setup is a lot more casual.

Personally, I don't think it's going to be a problem because I don't really see anyone outside of geekdom wearing them regularly.

The thing is, if you're a pervert and want to make covert pictures, you currently have to go out of your way to get some sort of spy cam. You'd have to be a pretty dedicated pervert to do that. If Glass takes off, however, even the most casual perverts will be able to do it because they already have the gear.

I can only imagine the sort of beatings Scoble will receive when he draws too much attention to himself in the red light district, by the way.

This statement says a lot more about you, Barry, than anyone else.

So much for the dress code.  Now everyone will have to wear a T-shirt stating:

Any use or distribution of my image without the express written consent of me is strictly prohibited.

    "Casual perverts"  Expressionless

Now that is a scary thought.

@Ray7: "Oh, I didn't mean to take any pictures like that...well, since I've got them..."

Also, Glass has a clearly visible red LED that turns one when someone is using it to take video.

@Bass: Easy to identify the average folk taking video, but for the pervs it's probably a simple mod to disable it.
