Jason Bradbury: "iPad is toast"

    "The iPad used to be elegant and beautiful, but now it's a  little bit dated as  a design, it hasn't really evolved a great deal."

    Interestingly echoes (perhaps a little more strongly) what Steve Wozniak said last week about Apple 'loosing their innovative touch'.

    Should be an interesting Christmas.

    @Ian2:

    "So what you're getting is something that's about the same size as the iPad, which is less expensive, has Office software, a relatively normal desktop operating system, and a keyboard."

    @fanbaby: Are you saying that you think Surface lacks innovation?

    Posting a quote from the article followed by a question mark is the most pathetic form of trolling I've ever seen.

    Anyway, it's interesting to hear something like that from the gadget press. I think it remains to be seen how big of a Christmas hit it'll be (I think he kind of forgot about the fact that it's not available in stores), but still.

    @Ian2: I'm saying that from the outside looking in, the Surface, currently, is no way comparable to the iPad, and say this as someone who has 0 desire for an iPad (yeah, as if I have the money  Smiley ). I have no idea where that review came from. I suspect either he's a Microsoft fanboy, or getting payed.

    I have to add that premature marketing is the source of all evil Smiley

    @fanbaby: Actually in the past he's been something of an Apple fanboy (he's a presenter on a popular gadget review show in the UK) so I'm actually surprised that he's critical of them now.

    @Dr Herbie:I think he is probably still an Apple fan - just letting them know that they need to keep innovating if they want to stay on top.

    A normal desktop OS? What's that supposed to even mean? Like it or hate it, I don't see how you can call Win8 a "normal desktop OS", and Windows RT is much further from it than Win8. I think this quote will mislead even more people into thinking Windows RT can run existing applications.

    I realize MS fankids are yearning for a Microsoft comeback, but jumping the gun isn't a wise move (and very wasteful for Microsoft as all this marketing might have the opposite effect). (I see no reason why Microsoft cannot succeed, but not at a 1.0 product, killing bugs and working on finish takes time). Be more humble or you're risking being labeled as a fanboy.

    Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

    I don't believe Apple is in any position to be lazy regarding maps...

    While I agree that Apple can't sit on its laurels forever, this article comes off as trollbait.

    @PaoloM:

    Sure, when people complain about crappy Apple Map no turn by turn navigation , they can say it is not too bad since WinPh8 Map is crappy  no turn by turn navigation as well.

    @magicalclick: You're welcome to your opinion, but by now maybe you should realize you are the ONLY ONE on this board complaining about this. Personally, I love Nokia Drive, which gives me great turn by turn navigation. Better than the Tom Tom and Garmin devices I've owned.

    Repeatedly, and annoyingly.

    BTW is anyone going to the Gadget Show Live this weekend?  (I am holding off for the Birmingham event in March next year).

    BTW If anyone isn't sure who Jason Bradbury is he is the bald guy in the floppy hat on the front page of the above link.
