Yup, it's that time of year again. Time to predict what will be announced at MIX this year. I remember doing it last year and comming home with a lot less stuff then I was expecting.

Anyway, new year, new predictions.  Feel free to comment on any prediction. Some of these are more like 'I really hope they do this' knowing the chances are small.

    Silverlight RIA V2 (if only...)

There are a lot of blank phone sessions, so safe bet on lots of new details about WP7

I'm definitely hoping for some exciting announcements regarding WP7, but I'm also totally ready to be disappointed. Again.

There's some NUI sessions that seem interesting but I doubt we'll hear any amazing announcements, save for perhaps some details on the Kinect SDK (but not the SDK itself). If there's Silverlight on Xbox (which I doubt), I expect it to be Silverlight 2 or 3, for some reason. I don't know, I'm not really expecting anything huge.

Still totally ready to be blown away though.

There will be a presentation slide that espouses the number of WP7 units manufactured or shipped.

    ...not sold, crucially.

(Bonus if it's WP7 licenses sold)

@Bas: If you look at the tags in the MIX Banner here on C9 I think the kinect SDK is reallt happening. But it wil not have a go live licence, it will be for research only.

There is always the Apache-licensed libfreenect. Smiley

But if Microsoft's offering includes the full computer vision middleware Xbox uses, that will certainly be an advancement in the Kinect hacking community.

I'm pretty sure I read that it will include full access to the audio system on the Kinect, which will be nice.

Windows 8 tablet UI demonstrated / Keynote demo

Silverlight 5 /  Kinnect Interface / Keynote demo.

WP7 Nextgen devices shown (Nokia) / Keynote demo

    .. Should be a corker.

Something related to kinect seems a given, hopefully an sdk beta, or atleast some details about that

something around WP home brew would be nice, hopefully long zheng and the others didnt bend over for nothing, but im not holding my breath though.

i have a hard time bringing myself to even hope for SL on xbox, even though it would be a genious [yet obvious] move in all respects.. if we do get that i have a bad feeling we'll have to get a $99 licence to even deploy on our own machines Sad

they'll probably have some tedious bragging about wp7 numbers though..(who even cares about that stuff?)

im settings the expectations low on this one and hope to be suprised Smiley

Silverlight on Xbox would be cool, especially if I could then watch Channel 9 videos on my XBox without resorting to sharing files from my PC. Not likely though it it.

I'm hoping for a nice HTML 5 tooling for Visual Studio.

Whatever happens, I've never been disappointed by a MIX (or a PDC) yet. Wish it was this week.

I predict that I'll still be waiting for the NoDo update while Joe Belfiore is laughing it up on stage pretending that WP7 has been an unbounded success.

@Michael Butler: Well Well well, would you look at this:

It's safe to say if it doesn't happen I will be underwhelmed.

Mostly ie9. Maybe more talk on azure again. Isn't mix more web related? Why kinect? Want to see more talk on bing on wp7. i really  hope they have free or cheap azure. I want to make a cheap website. And potentially scale it without migration process. Like 50bucks a year for limited DB and decent bandwidth and single CPU. Really hope ms cater  to new devs like me.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

As part of the continued support for scenarios that require plug-in based capabilities, we will ship a beta of Silverlight 5 at MIX
