Who do you think will take Ballmer's place? Who would you like to take that position?

People are saying Tony Bates. He wouldn't be too bad. I'd want someone passionate about technology and more understanding of end to end scenarios. Microsoft has its foot in several areas right now and they need to be able to tie all that together.

That's easy; Scott Gu and Scott Hanselman as co-CEO's of course! Smiley

Hey, one can dream can't one?! At least Microsoft would be fun with those two running the ship!

Anders. His part of the company is the only one that is an industry leader.

@SteveRichter: Anders is a great technologist, but not CEO material.

Think of how many CEO material types have failed to grow their companies. I think product is key to the success of these current day mega companies. I use the google browser because it is simply better than other browsers. Amazon is best product wise. I am sure Apple also. I think Anders would be terrific at making sure MSFT products are top rate.

@SteveRichter: Who would actually make the products though? Keep Anders doing what Anders does. However, I agree that you'd need somebody who was passionate about technology and a bit nerdy in order to bring some kind of vision.

my guess: It'll be somebody with no industry experience and a bad track record who has worked in the Obama administration

who I would like to see: uh. Not Sure (or perhaps Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho). I hope the BOD makes a good choice.

As long as he intend to fix the following two cultures, #dealwithit and #eatMyNumbers, he will be good in my book.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

@itsnotabug: hack no. Leave him along already, he is saving the world, way better than saving Microsoft.

there is a god...and he removed the cancer that has been affecting MS for over a decade -under said rule of SteveB

Too bad nothing will change - the board is rife with old thinking - stock holders

<mr-T> I pity the fool that takes the next ceo position</mr-T>

but.... anything is better than the last decade. Why not give some of the people who brought you success in the past a call.... Slivka, silverberg, or god forbid - the genius myrvold brothers

oh ya cause theyd change things

    sigh
