The feeling comes from seeing all three browsers ganged up on IE. And more and more sites using WebGL. While IE6 border-box made a mess, but, standard finally catch on and responsive site finally don't crap out with static layouts. To be a tech leader, it make sense to go outside the box until standard catches on. And mostly, it is clear the resource management is needed when wc3 finally support 3D rendering. Now, IE is behind the WebGL, soon IE will be behind hardware management. It will take at least 2 versions to offer some half backed functionality when more users moved on to competing browsers.
