Wow, I love my Gadgets App when it pops out morsels like this (even if it is just a rumour)

NB Note: "Xbox World has also created the rather tasty mock-up design for the new Xbox above, inspired by the Microsoft Surface and its Wedge peripherals."

    o X = no Xbox.N

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

I really hope there is a delay in the release of Xbox 720 or whatever they call it. I really would like to pick up a 360 as a media hub (I don't play games) but know its days are numbered. Media Center is dead -- now just a woeful DVR on my media stack. My Roku and Plex serve up my content which does a pretty good job but in the end I'd like a simple, tightly integrated solution.

With the wall of Sinofsky gone I'd hope they'd spend the time to really bring the platforms together. Smartglass is a great start but I'd like to see more. You also have things like XNA up in the air. It would be nice if they got XNA back on its feet or launched its replacement (across W8,W8RT, WPH8, and XBOX) before they released the 720. Kinect, XNA-Next, Smartglass, and maybe a new idea or two all running across all of their platforms might just bring me back. Until then I eagerly await my Galaxy Note II...

If we all believed in unicorns and fairies the world would be a better place.

Why would they have to delay the release for that? The 360 nowadays is nothing like the device it was when it launched. If they did one thing right this hardware generation it was constantly updating the device with new services. If a new XNA is imminent, all they'd have to do is push an update to the 720.

Note that if they talk now, they might overpromise, which is damaging. I remember when the PS3 was 6 months away Sony execs were going on about dual-HDMI outputs and stuff like that...then reality hit us.

Microsoft has a track record for delivering late to market, "also-ran" products. IMO they could help save the Windows franchise and advance in markets for the Xbox if they get it right for both consumers and developers right out of the gate rather than years down the road.

Actually, had a friend working at AMD who told me that they were making things for the next Xbox. And apparently, it's going to be out of this world.

Given the trend in Microsoft products now, I would expect nothing less than a cloud powered, Kinect enabled monster Windows 8/9 machine.

.75 million xbox 360s were sold on/over the Black Friday weekend... top game console x 2

the 720 will be insane; 3-d...

@JohnAskew: I think Home 3d is overrated. Apparently to do it correct you need a theater size screen. I have a Samsung 3d TV with 3d Blu-Ray and really feel that I just threw money away for the 3d part.

What I want is a faster Xbox and maybe a smaller kinect. Happy with most of the other features.

Hopefully it is powerful enough to handle the polygons generated by tessellation.
