    News about the private previews, betas in the summer etc set my thoughts wondering. My needs are simple.

    1. Tag emails in Outlook. Let others continue filing their emails in a folder hierarchy if they wish but I'd like to tag everything.

    2. Everything faster

    3. Wow me with new things. NB if it sucks I'l moan about it on Twitter for three years.

    That's all.

    Tag = categories in Outlook.

    Use an SSD if you want everything faster. Outlook starts in 1 second on my pc.

    My request: dump that * piece of Word to render HTML e-mails.

    Nobody makes stuff slow on purpose (well, not if they're not crazy). Outlook is slow because it is big and because it wants to talk to your exchange server over your slow internet connection.

    Every time someone at Microsoft comes up with a new idea, somebody's corporation starts using and it becomes a critical feature that just won't die for the next thirty iterations. That's why MS try to avoid putting fashionable crapware into their products that's going to look old or be painful to support in three years time when the rest of the world has moved on to the next Big Thing.

    1) Replace Outlook with Windows Live Mail Tongue Out

    At least that's what I am doing at home. Also it works very well with Hotmail, which in term, is awesome with WP7. Works better with hotmail because whatever I did on WL:Mail, it will be reflected on my hotmail, Contacts, Calender, Block List, and Spam button. Outlook has too many features that, I would have to keep track what settings are local and not supported on Hotmail.

    Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

    Maybe they could be under the bonnet. But I'm really addicted to my tag (occasionally tag twice) then archive behaviour in gmail and I'd love Outlook to do the same for me.

    Would be lovely but work won't pay for that. Guess I'm saying I'm fairly ok with Office 2010 and would settle for some polish & engineering improvements.

    Oh I forgot about that

    I completely agree but would prefer if they just got Word to render HTML emails well. Then we can have the best of both worlds.

    We have an Exchange 2010 on-site on our gigabit network and gmail responds faster.

    I don't disagree. But I was very impressed by the Ribbon and it would be great if the Office team pushed UX forward again. Have to say I'm also liking Apple's push to make the save button an anachronism.

    Gmail killed Outlook in my home.

    Yeah this is great. I'm even more pleased that Metro goes further by not just making a save button an anachronism but fundamentally requiring that applications automatically and continuously save data.

    @Simo:

    Me wants:

    • Better management of Outlook categories and better search for them (right now it is a pain in the nec to apply the right category if they don't fit in the most used list)
    • Possibility to insert vector graphic into Word documents (add SVG and DWG support, improve EPS support and add possibility to convert to AI files to DrawingML). This is important if you use Word for technical documents.
    • Better management of bookmarks in Word
    • Simplify the use of OneNote on tablets (need gestures).

    This could be a good start for me Smiley
