Oh wow, SkyDrive = My goodness.

Ok, now it all comes together in such harmony, I really got to praise the work done across MS organization.

First is my experience with Office2013. Saving it onto skydrive is simple. It shows up in my SkyDrive folder locally, on Skydrive.com, on my Windows Phone 7. And all of them can be edited locally and sync up to the cloud. While I haven't really get the chance to try the new SkyDirve Office App interface, but, I get it is really nice too.

Then, today, I just published some videos to my skydrive using Live Movie Maker, which can be viewed in such nice HTML5 video player online, no more strange prototyped video player online. And they also appears in my SkyDrive local folder. And I moved around the files, rename them, delete other folders (many actions) in my local drive, and Skydrive app managed to figure out what changed without re-upload hundreds of MB.

The experience is so smooth and integrated now. And since I am one of the veteran, I have 20GB free, hehehehe. But, I got to say, it wasn't easy to be a SkyDrive lover because it wasn't all that great before. It works, but, never this good. SkyDrive is created back in the PhotoBucket era, after all these years of being the underdog, to see this service finally get a big commitment from MS is just giving me tears of joy.

I still missed Live Mesh a little big. But, I don't seem to be bothered with it anymore. I only have 20GB free, so, 20GB usage on my laptop/desktop is not much. I don't always need to re-download everything, so, it is ok. As for tablet, I could ways use the Metro SkyDrive to save my storage. Haven't try this on Xbox, but, probably really cool too.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

After using SyncToy, FolderShare, and Mesh, the fact that you can't have separate collections to share with difference computers was annoying, but it's worked quite well for me so far.  I can keep OneNote files and others between multiple computers without hassle.  I just dread what MS will do in a few years when they decide to change it again....

Yes, Skydrive is the lynchpin that makes everything work. I do wish I could choose which Skydrive folders to sync locally though. If my photos are on Skydrive, I really don't need them locally.

And what happens if I try to sync 25GB of stuff to a device that has less than 25GB free?

So, being a lynchpin and all, has anyone noticed that live.com is down right now and logging into skydrive is not working?

@blowdart:This is the second time this has happened.  I had to forcably reset my password to get around it.

I suspect that there is a timeout period for passwords and once that time has passed, there is no way to get back in to change your password.

Going to live.com results in "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later." and no message as to why it's failing.  The only reason I knew to try it is was it happened once be fore.

This is a bad experience.  Pay attention MSFT.

@ScanIAm: There's definitely no timeout period for passwords. I've had the same Live ID password for 10 years.

@spivonious:I changed mine a year or two ago due to some concerns about how safe it was to keep one around that long.  Ever since, this happens on a pretty regular basis even though I specifically said DO NOT require me to change it every 72 days.

Well I can pass this on to the Microsoft ID team, but it's not something I've seen myself. Do you want to drop me a mail with your LiveID?

@blowdart:Sure, it would be nice to see what's up as it takes down all my tech till I can check for a reset email.  Smiley

I did a cursory glance through the site mentioned in your profile but didn't find an obvious email address to send to, but it's not like my login is that special:

    scaniam at nettally dot com.
