Hi all.

My aging WHS box (2x Xeon 3.2GHz) is starting to fail, so I am on the lookout for some new hardware.

2x Xeons? In a WHS box? What are you doing with it that requires all of that horsepower?

I have seen this

http://www.serversdirect.co.uk/HP_Proliant_ML110_G6__Dual_Core_G6950_Micro_tower_Server__578930-035/version.asp

which seems quite a good price for an entry level server, but the fact that it is just a dual core Pentium G6950 seems a bit weedy to me.

ML110's are decent enough boxes... though a little louder than I like around the house (remember, that is proper server grade HW).

Currently have about 6 3.5in drives in the server, so the HP Mediasmart things aren't really worth it either....

Why so? I've two HP Media Smart EX470's sitting behind me (running v1, I'm waiting for a specific v2 box to come out), each withone of these attached. It's hard to beat the simplicity of one of the OEM home server boxes IMO, doubly so when most have an eSATA port on the back which supports port multiplication.
