You really don't need anything like a Xeon for a home server, I ran one from 2005 to 2008 on an AMD Sempron and 512MB RAM without any issues (but this was before Hyper-V). The only real plus of a Xeon is better SMP support (obsolete in this day of multicore CPUs) an a larger cache, unless you're running a 10m transactions/day business process server at home it isn't worth the money.
