Ron has the incurable and very painful Dercum's Disease. This fund will pay for an experimental treatment not covered by insurance.
In October 2011 Ron began feeling symptoms. Soon this once healthy man who had completed triathlons and even a half-marathon could no longer run, work or drive. By 2013 he could no longer live on his own and requires 24*7 care. When we heard about a study carried out by Dr. Karen Herbst on patients being treated by a CVAC machine with very positive results we knew that we had to do everything possible to allow Ron to receive this treatment. The CVAC machine is expensive and is not covered by insurance because the treatment is considered experimental at this time. Please help in any way you can.;
@figuerres:Ah. I did a quick search and come up with some dj/writer. Hence the confusion. Not that the giveforward page says it's the same guy.
But then Eagle always hits and runs with links.
yeah when I saw how Eagle put in the "ARC Cast" I know that was a MS developer web cast thing. so I did a quick look and found the blog etc....
had a co worker years back who had some crazy illness take him down
made me sick as this guy was like in his 20's and I saw him after just like 3 years and he was in a wheelchair and almost unable to do anything! he was good kid, got in small trouble but did not deserve what happened, as far as I recall it was some rare disorder that was kind of like / related to ALS.
Today I signed the contract for the CVAC Pod. This machine simulates going between sea level and high altitude rapidly cycling between the two. I don't really understand exactly how but my doctor says it has proven effective in an initial study of patients suffering from Dercum's Disease. I will have to use the pod several times a week for 30 minutes or so at a time. This technology is very new so the only way I can get the treatment is to have the machine here at home. Hopefully I will have it in the next couple of weeks.
I completed 2 CVAC sessions so far, one last night and another just now. So far no dramatic changes but perhaps a slight uptick in my well being. Not sure if that is just the joy of finally getting started on the treatment or a genuine improvement or both.
Thank you to everyone who has so generously given to help me with the CVAC treatments. While I now have a CVAC machine, I have only paid a small portion of the price for it. Already the results have been amazing and if you can help me to pay for this machine I will make it my mission to help others receive this incredible treatment as well.
