    @SimonJ: Crap. You actually had me excited with that first paragraph. Let's hope there's a path forward in version 3 as kettch would suggest. I suspect they'll revamp it to output WinRT/Metro apps as IMO opinion that's the direction they want people to go. I wonder if they'll include a datagrid for metro by then?

    There are thinly veiled hints that there will be a way of outputting an HTML front-end from LightSwitch very soon. (Possibly by RTM of VS 11 ~Sept/Oct 2012.) Given that it is built using MVVM this shouldn't be that difficult.

    Whether this will give the level of sophistication needed in the UI remains to be seen. It may be even more restrictive than the current browser-based Silverlight implementation which is too restrictive for some applications which must target the Out Of Browser Silverlight experience because they need access to the PC file system (for Export to Excel, etc).

    @SimonJ: For my needs OOB SL would be the only way to go. I'm sure the HTML front end will be full of No Compromise.

    @nizami13: Why would you torrent when you can download the evaluation version and put in a working key?

    Can you give me a link to the software you write, hopefully it will be paid for, so I can hack it, and put it on the web for free? Sad

    @nizami13: Just use the express editions if you cannot pay for it. They're very good development environments and have most of the features a lone-developer would need (with the exception of the testing framework, which you can add for free via third parties).

    @ManipUni: The new 2012 Express versions are also compatible with TFS2012 Express, so you can have a source control system for free as well, which is something I'm looking forward to.

    @Dr Herbie: Use Mercurial. It's awesome.

    @ZippyV: More awesome than Git?

    Git didn't have a decent Windows client until recently. I've been using Mercurial with TortoiseHG for about a year. It works well and it gets monthly updates.

    I don't think this advice has any use to people who decided pirating is okay.

    And I don't think those hackers need to hack it. If you're on the right subscription level, your MSDN download should have the key pre-filled. What they does is just find someone who have included the "My Downloads" folder as shared folder on whatever P2P software they use and downloaded it, then make a torrent and send it out. In other words, they just stolen the ISO file from some legitimate user. If someone think it's really okay, I don't have anything to say. Sad
