The only app is a third party which is basically ok but not feature rich. One important but missing feature is downloading videos

Yes there is, you're browsing on it right now.  It's got cross platform, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript awesomeness Smiley

Except the rich text editor doesn't work, and the layout is not responsive so it's horrible to navigate on a small screen.

I see what you mean, but that seems like it might be an issue with the C9 site.  I'm always a bit skeptical of the need to appify everything, especially when the wp8 platform is supposed to be able to handle a majority of what works on the web.

@ScanIAm: I agree with you about the idea of "why do we need an app?" when you have a website, but we are not currently a site that works well on mobile. We are fully functional on the phone, with the exception of our rich text editor, but since we are not responsive it isn't a great experience. We do have *our* app in the works but it doesn't have video downloading or the forums in it, so it may not be a replacement for the site for certain folks.

@Duncanma: I am on an iPad, but it plain don't work on Android which would be great

@vesuvius: what doesn't work on Android? The whole site, videos, forums?

@Duncanma: for me posting in the forums, this is historical though, I use my PC most of the time, but an iPad occasionally. I last tried on android quite a while ago and gave up on that platform in the forums

@Duncanma: I've been trying to shove HTML5/CSS3 into my skull lately, so given that context:  If there were another input type of 'rich text' or equivalent, that would solve the problem.  The browser implementers would need to develop a control for that input in each environment and like 'tel' or 'email' the browser could figure it out.

I haven't actually tried it, but there does appear to be a way to edit word documents on a phone (even if I wouldn't do that unless I had to), so it would be possible.  I'm sure there's an equivalent in the Android and iOS ecosystems.

I know this would only solve the 'rich text editor' problem with C9, but it seems like a stretch to expect cross-platform word-processor functionality from every website with a comment box.

@ScanIAm: there kind of is such a thing already with 'content-editable', but implementation varies from browser to browser. I don't if we actually have a problem with Android, but I'll check as soon as I can track down a device. Geoff is actually in the midst of moving us up to the latest version of our editor, so perhaps that will fix any issues!
