Too much RT ... not enough XBox One

I am sorely disappointed that I can't buy the Xbox One on pre-order or anything from the Microsoft Store.  I understand manufacturing pipelines may have limitations, but if MS could put out $900 million extra RTs, then couldn't they make enough XBones so that we could order them from the MS store?  Now I'm seriously going to have to wait in line for the "minimum" of 20 XBones available at Best Buy or Future Shop on the 22nd....  First world problem, I know.  Wink

Also, the fact that XBone isn't on the front page of the Microsoft Store web site is really nuts, as well.  I had to search around for links to ... "retailers".  What about you MS?  Really, even if it wouldn't be available until the new year, I should still be able to give you my money.  Smiley

I am sure I pre-ordered my Xbox One from MS Store. I even have the email receipt.

You could before, but not anymore. I was way too late. But they should still take orders even if it will take much longer to ship.

So you want to order "back order" / "out of stock" from the MS store and they don't have that service yet. It is a good suggestion. You should tell them about that.

In terms of thinking about xbox (via Laura Foy) http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/29/5041630/microsoft-hires-jonathan-ross-to-change-our-thinking-about-xbox

This could be part of a master plan

@vesuvius: What are his qualifications exactly?  Being an avid video gamer?  Oh, his company made a game.  A game?  Just one?

Yeah, another useless hire.  Well I guess some people got fired or replaced for all that backtracking and bad tweets when revealing the Xbone specs and stuff.  A lot of that stuff was presented the wrong way (although it was actually better for gamers).

As for Xbone, you should have ordered one when the pre-orders started.  If you don't understand that or didn't know when the pre-orders started, well lets just say you don't deserve one at launch anyway.  As for comparing it to RTs, RTs were also "sold out" at the start and you couldn't order certain colors.

Why the negativity? I haven't seen anything bad he did to gaming industry. I congratulate him and wish his vision, and MS vision, and customer vision align. And hopefully he is not a jerk who loves misuse statistical values.

@magicalclick:  Sorry if it came off as negative ... I was seriously curious about his qualifications that would enable him to 'change our thinking' about Xbox.  I mean, that sounds like a pretty big job to me.  What does that even mean?  MS exec says, he is being brought in to "broaden the concept of gaming," and to "maybe blur the distinctions about what is a traditional game and what is a traditional television program and what is a traditional linear media."  How?  What experience and qualifications does he have?  One game?  Again, not trying to be negative ... I'm trying to see the point.

Sorry to say this, but Jonathan Ross is a giant twit, only tolerable in extremely small quantities. Wink

Hah, I know right?  I should have ordered one right away.  Unfortunately, I had just bought a house at the time.  First world problems.  House closing costs or Xbone.  Tough decision, believe me.  Wink  What I'm disappointed in is that I can't order one online at all.  I can't order one that will come next year, or anything.  That seems like a bad approach to selling things online.  Why not be able to place an order and get on a wait list?  As for the RTs ... they sold out in the beginning and probably wouldn't allow you to get on a wait list either, for the same reasons.  If they had of taken those orders even when out of stock, but said - "sorry, you'll have to wait, but we'll let you know as soon as we have the product in stock and only charge you the day we ship it" - that would have sold more RTs than they did, and the same applies to the XBone.  I realize it's not just MS that does this though; it's everywhere.

It was painful but I had to cancel my pre-order from Microsoft just last week as we are still paying for our house extension.  (Personally I would rather of had the XBOX One but don't tell the wife I said that)

Ouch. Sad  Ah well, we'll get the non-defective units later anyways.  Not that MS would make defective units, ever.  Wink

@Ian2:  Is it actually purchasable?  I tried the Fifa one, as it's the only one "available online".  But it looks like it's just a wish list link, that wants my email address....  In Canada, it at least has a link to email me when available, but it's not available for purchase.

By now I've already decided to stake out the ToysRUs, Best Buy, Future Shop, and EBGames right by where I live.  FS and BB say they'll have 20 consoles available at midnight.  And 15 more at 8am the same morning.

@Richard.Hein:I think there were some but once they go up on this site things tend to go rather rapidly. (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/xbox-one-day-one-edition-with-forza-5-429-99-toys-r-1702602)

I'm going to pass on the Xbone for now. The price doesn't justify the hardware, especially considering many of the launch titles simply don't take advantage of my 1080p TV.

    It'll get better.

But really, if you care so much about graphics at the pixel level, you should just do PC gaming where you're so close to the monitor to actually be able to make out the aliasing. There are a lot of 360 games that look really pretty when I sit on my couch, but the moment I move closer to my TV the beauty starts to breakdown and I can see all sorts of ugly artifacts.

I'm not going to get the X1 immediately. Will wait a while to see if they have to improve on anything in a second version (e.g., too many logos on some units are turning red) Also just waiting on AR.
