    So, it's that time again, seems like Donald Trump is making all the headlines here, he has been quite controversial thus far.

    Are Donald and Hillary going to be also ran's, is there a chance that the Republicans will win? I can scarcely believe what has happened here with a Conservative government talking austerity for the last 5 years managing to win outright and the liberal party being all but wiped out.

    What are things like, is there a chance Joe Biden might run and win?

    I generally have a short attention span for attention seekers who try their best to appear knowledgeable without actually proposing anything practical or concrete and try even more their best to ridicule and make other more knowledgeable people look bad.

    If that's the entertainment level you expect from our leaders, it costs far less to visit the theater for standup comedy than to risk damaging domestic and international economy from voting someone like that for office..

    My wife has said (and I agree with her), that if Trump gets elected President, we're moving to Canada.

    Interesting enough, Carly Fiorina has tied Trump in a nationwide opinion poll conducted after the recent debate.  It's the first time Trump has not been the clear winner in a nationwide poll in the past 2 months.

    Good things about Donald Trump (in my opinion):

    • He's a political outsider
    • He is an effective leader and doesn't let others push him around

    Bad things:

    • Literally everything else

    Why? He is going to upgrade ObamaCare to Canadian system. You are not missing out the Canada health care.

    He is also the rare GOP that not only does not support the current or future war at cost of economy. He even disagreed to wage war on Iraq when Bush was overwhelmingly voted by USA citizens to avenge 911.

    He is not pro-life crazy.

    He is not anti-gay crazy.

    He is not anit-ObamaCare crazy.
    He is anti-costly-war.
    He is not anti-union crazy.

    He is practically a Democrat with an entertaining potty mouth. He is the only GOP candidate that can get the vote from the mutual voters.

    Either way, IMO, once USA has Canada-like healthcare, I see no reason to live in a freezing country with super high sales tax.

    Yes, because there are so many democrats that want to build a giant wall on the Mexican border.

    Face it, the guy has a lot of big talk about "winning" and "success" which I'm sure appeals to some people, but he has no actual plans except stuff that's completely infeasible and borderline insane.

    @magicalclick:  Those things don't make you a Democrat.  They just mean you aren't in line with many of the vocal Republicans.

    But he was a Democrat at one point, and has donated to both sides, and has even recently (July I believe) said that many of his views align with Democrats more than Republicans.  Obviously... immigration isn't one of those views.

    His wall is not aligned with both GOP and Democrats because no one has the guts to do it. And actually his rating shots up after saying he wanted to build a wall by using import tax. An import tax that isn't even as high as other countries such as Taiwan and China and etc.

    And I know some previously democratic voters agree with Trump that illegal immigration is starting to become a problem. Hell, my brother is now a strong supporter of the wall, just to make sure those "refugees" wouldn't get into Mexico and cross the easy border. While that a big pacific ocean to cross, I wouldn't say that isn't a possibility and will have impact to us.

    Of course, I don't really care. They are going to stay on East Coast and i doubt they have a strong economic system to handle large sum of foreign long term visitors. I am on the west coast which is too far for me to care.

    @magicalclick: "refugees"? You mean the people fleeing the civil war in Syria?

    I'm a libertarian, and I still think we should be reaching out to help these people.

    Don't think there's a way to verify if someone is really a war zone refugee or economic refugee. The most control you could have while staying politically correct (= ignoring population genomics and all kinds of hot potato arguments) is to officially recognize a war zone and have official means of migrating from there - anyone coming through people smugglers would just be sent back once found.

    In TV show 'australia border security' which they pretty much raid workplaces looking for illegals but probably if you wanted to fully secure borders you'd have to have a bunch of drones with thermal + visible band motion detectors across the border that can then track you if you cross the border... (obviously all roads would then need some way to x-ray cars for people coming in trucks)

    (I just read that longest UAV flight is 200+ hours, would be a bit of logistic to have entire border covered but doable no doubt)

    Man you are really high tech on this. Yeah, you are right. Europe currently having to deal with both war refugee and economic refugees. I actually don't know what to do with both.

    @spivonious:

    I would moderate. Help is nice. I certainly want USA to accept Taiwanese refugees when war arise. But, I wouldn't want it to be so easy, people start taking advantage of it.

    Rand Paul makes sense to me.  Trump is fun to watch because the same old politician in the US is dying.  Trump wont make it to the finals but he is stirring up a lot of the anger out there. Obama made a mess in Iraq and created this Iraq and Syrian refuge crisis.  Yes Bush started that war but when you run for president your job is to take over all of the previous administrations problems and fix them whether you caused them or not.  If you cannot handle this do not run.   Leaving a void in Iraq was a huge mistake.   The US is still in Germany and South Korea to keep stability and to have pulled out of Iraq like he did was a huge mistake.  Weakness in the current administration is probably why Trump is gaining traction.

    @TexasToast:

    Not sure what would Trump do in Obama's shoes. He didn't want Bush war before the war started. So, he probably will do the same as Obama because he wanted the economy to be strong first.
