I just got an update for SkyDrive on my iPhone. Does that mean they've finally sorted out the mess about the subscriptions?

It thus appears that either Apple has had a change of heart (unlikely), or Microsoft isn't telling the full story. We wouldn't be surprised if it was a little bit of both.

MS has simply taken the same approach that Amazon has: don't sell through the app. They don't need to reach any agreement with Apple to do that.

The problem is that the iPad doesn't need Office to be successful, which didn't leave Microsoft much room for negotiation.

Well if Apple are holding to their initial position there could be no links to the SkyDrive website anywhere in the app. Which may be the case.

    EDIT:

Which is quite ironic given that Office for Mac is the only reason Apple didn't go bankrupt years ago...

What does Office have to do with this? Anyway, the iPad owes its success to the availability of apps. When the other tablet platforms achieve parity in the list of "must have" apps, Apple won't be able to take such an arrogant position because it will cost them customers.
