the reviews are in - slower heavier no apps. - same or more Price

    yay  : (

Please - spend 2 years saturating the market with 199 ms tablets

like you underwrote xbox - sell at loss - later at cost - later at profit

seems like you've come out wanting profit (ludicrous)

    COPY amazon 199 ...

you are not apple/ipad....  the device brings you money - stop being them

    do this now

    what do you guys think?

As a Silverlight hater i'd say: Spot on! The fanbois that make comparisons to the iPad are just thinking wishfully and are really hurting Microsoft, not helping it IMO.

Also, throwing more marketing is a complete waste of money, it would not change the fact that this isn't close to the iPad. Heck, even androids is having a really hard time against the iPad.

I'd say that SurfaceRT is a burning platform, except that Microsoft is certainly in no danger, they can keep throwing money at it for a few years. But a little humility would certainly not hurt.

Watching Simpsons last night was funny. Homer won a Mapple MyPad, but the funny thing was half the commercials seemed to be Apple iPad commercials, and the other half were Microsoft Surface/WP8 commercials. Was like a tech battle....

  • JohnAskew

Jamie, you may want to hold out for the rumored "Surface Xbox", a 7" screen device that acts as a Surface RT + xbox controller (w/display).

LOL. Looks like my posts are set on "auto-delete". Even when they are not Win8 related.

What iPad has indeed shown is, you can't have lag, jitteriness, lack of feedback and downright unresponsiveness on Tablets. Fanboys are indeed not helping.

I stopped by at Microsoft store on the first day and immediately noticed that Asus Vivo RT (at Bestbuy) is more responsive than Surface RT. But even then, many WinRT apps suffered from bad UX design. I would touch on something in an app and couldn't tell if the App has started doing something or if the touch failed to register. After touching the same app couple of times, the first action would start anyway. The general laginess in almost every app was not good at all.

I want this thing to succeed. But the whole thing needs to be more performant on the ARM processors.

In the end, I kept thinking, why would I shell out 500 bucks for this. At the basic level though, the basic framework (live tiles, charms, etcetra) looks exciting and I like the flow, but things gotta improve .....

I wouldn't be laughing if after 7 years membership to a forum, people are resolving to censorship. Clearly you are not a child anymore. It is quite sad really.

    Submit. Submit. Submit.

That was the funniest Simpsons I've seen in a long time.

Funny, that source is the same source who has said every year, for 5 years, Apple TV is just around the corner.

So, yea, up to you if you want to trust the numbers.

MS, rather than put ads on the sides of buses why dont you give Surfaces to your dev community so they will write apps for them.

BTW, one of the the reasons Apple is doing so well today is that 25 years ago they gave Macs to every elementry school in the country.  Suprise - when the kiddies grew up they bought Macs.  Whoda thunk it.

What are you talking about? Didn't you go to build? Didn't you get your Surface?

So this is why 25 years ago (1987) Macs marketshare was trending up to the early 90s >10% and it's now in the mid single digits?

Those kids must not have had a lot of money to buy expensive machines...

    @jamie:

what you suggest is illegal when your customers are OEM as well.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

Market cap for aapl is 553B, market cap for MSFT is 229B.... or do I have that backwards? A few years ago I did.

  • PaoloM

So, if Microsoft were to give you a Surface, their "market cap" would go up?

    Exactly how?

  • swheaties
