ProTools is pretty much used by people who have been using it for years and don't want or have any reason to use anything else because they're happy with it and have invested in lots of expensive hardware to use it. New people are using Ableton Live and Logic more.

It WOULD be great if Ableton Live 9, Bitwig (if it ever comes out) and Reason would start supporting WASAPI but just having access to ASIO in modern apps would be nice.
There's also the problem with letting modern apps access VSTs too along with the decent support for MIDI I always talk about.
