Why does IE not print the selection, when I tell it to???

I'm using IE9.  I'm on a large page, but only want to print 5 lines.  I highlight those 5 lines, and then do a Control-P to bring up the print menu.  I click on the "Print Selection" option, and then click on the print button.

Next IE starts printing 51 pages?!?!?!?!?!

How do you get 51 pages out of 5 lines of selected text?

    Copy-Paste the lines to Notepad.

Does any browser act that way?  Seems like if it did then it would have to give the option to print text only or graphics only or both since the highlighted region could involve not so obvious objects (given the infinite number of ways page authors could interweave content).

Weird. I just tried it with this page and the "Print to OneNote" printer (to save paper) and it works fine. I wonder if it relates to the page you're printing having a special stylesheet for printing?

You can copy paste it to word, then print it.

Yeah, it maybe the page I was on.  I don't remember which page that was.

IE has long had issues with selection and printing on pages with complex CSS layouts.

@Sven Groot: if it has complex CSS, why not make it a bit more complex and include a print CSS?

MSDN pages have it and I love that feature!

That's also why I have the print source code badge Wink

I think my bro had this problem too. What I don't understand is, why not just do screenshots and stitch them, and feed it to the printer? And let us, crop the stitched screenshots before print? IE doesn't print page properly too. I don't understand why the print preview would be different than what was rendered on screen. Just doesn't make much sense.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.
