Why isn't there just one full example?

I have been working with Sky Drive API for 3 days and nothing works.  I constantly get the same error [WL]Windows is not defined.  I have literally run 35 different examples and I always get that error.  When you look the error up on the web the solutions are gobbly gook (you are using a three legged stool instead of a two legged stool).  I cannot find anywhere where there is a step by step approach to accseesing the SkyDrive from a javascript "standard" application.  I downloaded wl.js, how do I know I have the latest one?  Is there something else I need that I am just not cognitive of?  What does that error mean? Can anyone help me?  PLEASE

So using the latest is easy. Don't use a local copy, use

    <script src="//js.live.net/v5.0/wl.js"></script>

Or download and install the SDK, which would give you intellisense if you're using VS.

The problem I have is what is a "standard" application? Plain javascript and HTML? jquery? bootstrap? some other combination? There's no real definition of "standard" app. Did you check out the interactive SDK and videos on http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/live/hh826521?

Sign in is easy enough, after that, well, it all depends on what you want to access

Out of topic, but, you should double check that SkyDrive actually works on Windows 8. Because recently Windows 8 got crippled by some update and all Windows Live sign it failed, like Store and Mail won't login. So, make sure that works first.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.
