Will you buy an iPad 3?

Even if I won Fridays 40 million dollar jackpot, I would not buy an apple product, let alone an Ipad.

I won't be but I know a lot of people will. I see a lot of local retailers using iPads and iPhones to conduct POS transaction, check-in guests, etc. PCs were boat anchors for these kind of folks. Now they are free.

As a developer I'm kinda stuck floating between the worlds I have projects in and I haven't had the pleasure of doing an iOS project yet so no need for an iPad. For personal use I feel that if you are going to go Apple you have to go all the way and I'm just not ready yet to take that plunge.

If we all believed in unicorns and fairies the world would be a better place.

    Mmmm.

Slightly heavier (though not so much that you'd notice),

Lots of folk complaining that the resolution of the rear camera could be better (though I've yet to see anyone use their iPad like a camera). Lots of folk complaining that it hasn't got the full Siri experience (I wasn't expecting it to).

When it arrives at the local Apple Store I'll take a look, but I don't think there's enough there to upgrade this time round.

Having said that, once the developers start to churn out stuff that looks good on the Retina screen then I'll probably cave in.

The problem Apple had here was that there was way too much hype for an incremental upgrade. A few hours before the event, there was insane rumour that it was going to include a new revolutionary haptic display and would be made of liquid metal!

Still, with a little clever press manipulation, the CEOs of the companies involved managed to hike their share price for few hours.

Yes, so far I've resisted iOS development because I really don't think much of ObjectiveC as a language. Might have to suffer it the way things are going though ...

@Sven Groot: It's the iPhone that the deal breaker for most people. What is the point in having a bigger phone?

I would never get an iPhone since I have an iPad.

@Proton2: You are missing out, because they are simply lovely to use. Even the original iPad 1 is still brilliant today.

Apple products are less throwaway than most other technology out there, yes I would like an HD screen but I am still very happy with my iPad 2.

@NitzWalsh: I'm still waiting to see what Intel's new SoC Atom devices are like, because the specs had them very close to ARM in terms of power consumption, without losing all those legacy Windows apps if you need them. They could well be game changers for the tablet market.

The iPad 3 screen resolution is bringing it into very compelling territory though, but i'd still prefer a device that was a little less focused on pure content consumption. It'll be very interesting to see the first Windows 8 tablets and whether they are coming close featurewise.

No, I dislike apple a lot. But, as much as I don't want to, the world is moving toward iApple world, and staying on MS side is getting more challenging over the years. The possibility of me switching loyalty is higher than years ago.

Haha, me too. I don't like apple, and I take MS side. But I have to say iPad is a good product. I brought one iPad2 for my parents and waited Windows 8 for a really long time. The consumer preview disappointed me so much, especially when I hear that WOA is not going to show up until 2013. I'm going to by a iPad and not going to wait anymore.
