    1) display next photo in a folder. Finally fixed. 2) type mom in email address, finally fixed. 3) backup and recovery, don't know yet. 4) Movie Moment, only 1 minute. 5) convert email to calendar event, still not supported. 6) ModernMix compatibility, poor for now. 7) New store, took me 30 seconds to realize I need to do differently to browse games. 8) finally. I really dislike MS release cycle. Most of those apps can be release ahead as incremental changes. They probably did. And yet, it takes them a year to fix broken photo app and and send email to MOM. I am glad they finally fixed those two big bugs, especially the photo bug. But it just takes too long. 9) bear with me for the giant text block. C9 has yet to be able to replace newline character with simple BR tag. They don't seem to care about Windows Phone 8.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

The Newline to br tag is a good idea - posted to site feedback for you.

@magicalclick: I don't know why opening up a photo in photo gallery is so much quicker than the metro photo viewer, it really is slow

@elmer: I doubt I did. Thanks for the info. Well update it when I get the chance.

If anything, it's gotten better.  Microsoft rarely makes major usability enhancements outside of a full release, but in the past the full release cycle was in the order of several years.  Now it's been reduced to just a year.

That said, the apps tended to be designed better with greater functionality from the start.

If anything, that will be Windows 8's legacy:  overshooting the principle of simplicity.

As for "fixing" the broken Photo App, they removed key functionality as well - no more getting images from Flickr or Facebook.  Having a central photo hub is one of the selling points of the app, folks aren't happy:

The backup app losing the ability to backup Skydrive data is still a big WTF from me.

@magicalclick: We do care about WP8, I personally use it on C9 all the time, but the editor doesn't work on it and we didn't do anything with plain text entry because we were busy trying to make the editor work on it. Now that, after a bunch of work, we've determined it isn't possible at this time, we should look at the plain text entry and see if it can be improved.

So, yes your idea is a good one... but please don't assume we don't care because we hadn't thought of it first.

@Duncanma: If you guys already fixed it with trivial plain text paragraphs features, I wouldn't need to wastes my time apologizing for the giant text block. You can order a WP8 hater to implement the fix. All I want is typing text in paragraphs.

FWIW: Telerik's RadControls editor claims wide support for mobile browsers.
