Just a spin-off from another threads. But, this is not about ARM and not about WOA.

I am just wondering, can I make a WinRT desktop app? To make this easy, can I make a WinRT desktop app on my x64 machine?

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

That really sux, because I want to make a desktop app that utilize WinRT services. So, for desktop apps, I am locked-in with legacy services? That's disappointing.

    YES.

but it depends on what kind of 'services' you want to use. Many of WinRT APIs are specially designed for immersive apps, not really make sense in Desktop mode, you can call them but they wont work.

But there ARE some APIs works in both modes, for things like Sockets etc., even the XAML stack 'kinda works' in desktop too, with glitchs and caveats, so dosent really make sense to use it though.
