Rumors are mounting that Microsoft is developing a seven-inch Xbox Surface device targeted at gamers.
The device would use an ARM processor, a customized version of Window's tablet operating system and high-bandwidth RAM designed specifically for gaming tasks, though it is understood that it would still be able to be used as a regular tablet.
Another customized Windows tablet OS ? another 'Runtime' namespace and API surface ? another target for Portable Class Libraries ? another simulator and SDK ? another store ? hell no .
Probably the same thing as the Wii U, no?
Rumors are flying about this thing. There's also talk of it working with a base station (which would presumably be the next Xbox) and it basically being Microsoft's version of the Wii U. The whole "it's also a tablet" thing seems fishy to me: the specs are low and it's running on a custom version of Windows, which seems directly in opposition of the whole W8/WRT thing.
Then again, it's Microsoft.
I figured this would be a 7" Surface with Xbox SmartGlass software, with maybe some tweaks to Windows RT to better tie into the Xbox.
You know what will happen if it can't run Office...
1280x720 ? what the ? at least make it 1920x1080 ....
Hey, there is spinning rust on the spec sheet! Two Power7s, 22.2 Surround, SCIS, give me a break.
nah, unlikely rumor.
@JoshRoss: In this day and age, I would hope that a modern console would have solid state storage. I don't think I could stand the sound of a 10k drive in my living room.
I know this is! Someone put a bunch of crazy random crap on papers and went on a leak finding mission.
Im sure each copy included or exculuded something unique.
