I downloaded the zip file, extracted the contents to a folder, clicked the [Content_Types].xml file, and IE opens a page of xml code.

Could someone please tell me how I can view the slides in power point?

Where did you download the file from? Are you sure it was a zip file, or was it a pptx file? It sounds like it was a pptx file that you downloaded as a Zip file (the newer Office document files are actually zip files with a specific format, so renaming the file would allow you extract the contents, but said contents aren't directly usable by Office anymore).

Downloaded the zip file from this link:
    http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/MMS/2013/UD-B326

Where it says Slides (view online) on above link, I clicked on Slides and downloaded the UD-B326_Agerlund.zip file.

The (view online) option works, but I want to be able to view slides locally in power point, and not from the web.

How do I view the slides in PowerPoint after downloading to my local drive?

    Thank you.

When I go to that page the Slides link doesn't point to a zip file but a pptx file, as I suspected. Here's the link I see:

    http://video.ch9.ms/sessions/mms/2013/UD-B326_Agerlund.pptx

Not sure why there's a difference, but in your case you don't have to download anything again, just rename the UD_B326_Agerlund.zip to UD_B326_Agerlund.pptx and it will open in PowerPoint.

Thank you, renaming the file worked!

When I hover my mouse pointer over Slides on that web page, at the bottom of IE it shows the file name as:

    http://video.ch9.ms./sessions/mms/2013/UD-B326_Agerlund.pptx

After I click on Slides, at the File Download->Do you want to open or save this file? prompt, the dialog box shows the file name as UD-B326_Agerlund.zip.

Thanks again for your help Smiley
