    Hi,

is this year no TechNet subscription included for attendees?

The TechNet subscription offer is not included this year.

Interesting, and I agree with topgun - disappointing..  A lot of changes this year on the US side from the previous several years.  I've been known as a harbinger of change in several organizations so I'm ok with change, but I do wish the transition was a bit smoother and better communicated.

I'm wondering - Is there going to be no subscription this year on either side of the pond?

That was a very nice part of the whole Tech Ed package.  Disappointed. Sad

Yep, one of the best values that lets people keep digging into the tech, and learning after the conference is over.   I've truly liked having these subscriptions year after year and I heavily utilize them.   It's a shame, and removes one more reason to attend and the value it provides.

Hmm, very disappointing. I, like many others, have to justify to my employers the cost of funding my visit to TechEd and, as RallyJoe says, this seems to be another benefit which now detracts from that.

At least we had the TechNet offer last year when the guys from Build were bringing their Surfaces and Windows Phones back into the office - this year it seems we'll only be bringing back a TechEd bag - unless we score on the 1000000 to 1 chance to win a Nokia Lumia or Xbox....

Those attending TechEd are those trailblazing and promoting Microsoft technologies now and in the future.  Its a very strange decision to revoke the TechNet sub.  If everything is scaled back accordingly, the nice bag I got in Barcelona 2008 that became a gym bag in Berlin 2010 I guess will become a vBag which I can access via my Live ID, and read the vAgenda.  We will still be getting a printed ring-bound session agenda I hope?!!

....but if you attend TechEd USA you can buy a Surface Pro (128 GB) for only $ 399,-. Let's hope the European edition will have this promo price too Wink

I got fired up at TechED to load up Excel 2013 for our BI strategies at work and give it a try. It will be difficult to convince managment to purchase Excel 2013 Pro without a demo. I purchased a Sureface RT and liked what I saw, so I decided to try Windows 8 at home only to find the TechNet subscription was not offered. So guess I will stay with Ubuntu for my home desktop. MS lost on two counts with this decision.

Good news!  We are excited to provide TechEd Europe 2013 attendees a special offer on Surface. http://msft.it/TEESurface

This was my 8th TechEd, having the discount on the Surfaces was nice and removed the strain of trying to win something. The loss of TechNet this year I find disheartening, it's not the primary reason I like to attend TechEd but it was a wonderful way to get extra value from the conference and also a way for me to balance my IT budget decisions. For Microsoft to remove something that couldn't be a great cost is just sad and irritating. I guess I'll just have to get what I can out of last years subscription before it expires.
