Wow.. doesn't leave a lot of time to get a hotel
You probably want to have a hotel lined up already. Just make sure it's not "Advanced Purchase" for now. So, if you don't go, you can easily cancel.
At this point, anyone without a hotel reservation should strongly consider renting a car as well. You won't want to pay hundreds of dollars each night in downtown hotel, so you will need transportation to the convention center. Downtown parking across from the convention center is $12 a day (as I understand their parking information).
For me, I'm driving in, as I'm paying my own way, so I went with a cheap hotel room that's about 10 miles away from the downtown area. After all, I'm mainly going to sleep and shower there each day, and if I'm back at the hotel before 10 PM each night, I'd be surprised.
I'm still waiting for the response. Will check in hotel and flights right after receiving confirmation.
CAReed.. are you interested in car pool? We can share the costs of the gas/rent...
I am about 4 miles away and will probably take public transportation. Supposedly subway is only a few blocks from hotel and goes right to convention center. My hotel has a local shuttle, but only within 3 miles.
Your hotel options this late are going to be limited. Everything in the downtown area is booked solid. I had some team members get approval to go late but ended up not coming because the only decent hotels they could find were 30 miles out. Unless you don't mind lower end motels.
@rpatricio1:Were you able to get in? I was on the wait list too but sadly was turned down. Counting the days to TechEd NA 2015...
