Anyone know what the dress code is at TechEd?  Business casual?  Casual?  Relaxed?

This will be my first TechEd so I am not sure, but from the looks of older photos it looks to be pretty relaxed. I plan on just wearing shorts and a t shirt.

You'll see some of everything.  The button pushing monkeys tend to be casual with the management/sales/marketing guys going business casual.  Whatever you wear be sure that your shoes are comfy

Relaxed...by the 2nd/3rd day most attendees will be wearing shorts and vendor swag t-shirts (if anything like last year, several vendors will have give aways for those wearing their shirts).

@tkilmer:There really isn't a dress code for attendees.  Wear what is comfortable to you.  Key thing is good comfy shoes (not new ones!) and I always suggest bringing a jacket or light sweatshirt for the conference center as the A/C can get pretty chilly in the breakout rooms.

I wore jeans and a button down last year and felt professionally comfortable. Many attendees wear as KevinMet plans to...shorts and a tee shirt. There is no real dress code that I know of...as long as you're dressed. Wink

Thanks everyone.  I was hoping to pack light, and it's looks like I'm going to be able to!  See everyone there!

I was hoping they would be giving out a bunch of t shirts! Not sure if its a very limited few that people get, but with all the booths I am sure everyone can get a few.

@KevinMet: Last year by the end of the conference there were a few that had ran out, but most still had something to offer.

QUESTION - what's the typical attire at the vendor parties and closing party?  I'm hoping it's the same as the conference so I can stay in shorts and t-shirts.

I have attended TechEd for many years now and I have seen pretty much everything.  In general, people dress comfortably and mostly tend towards summer casual of shorts or khaki's, t-shirt and comfortable shoes.

And vendor t-shirts are typically available in abundance!!!

Would sandals be acceptable? I don't do well with heat and humidity, and my trusty sandals are the most comfortable thing I have in that environment.  I plan to walk from my hotel to the conference center, about 15 mins, so cool and light is what I'm hoping for.

Unless you are one of us larger guys.  Either they don't stock as many XL and 2XL shirts as they do other sizes, or the TechEd attendees skew towards being large.  In the past most of the vendors have been out of the larger sizes within a day or two, if they had any at all.

@petermaria hey!  You're the paying customer in this; wear whatever you want!  Sandals are great.

Show up in a Star Trek housecoat and a beaver skin cap with funky slippers.  Or show up like Eddie on National Lampoons. He's always classy.
