Are there any official / unofficial parties on each evening?
Unfortunately I won't be at the closing event party so I just wonder are there people here planning to have some fun each evening?
Also on Saturday and Sunday
I had a very sarcastic and witty reply but I am always accused of being too sarcastic. So I'll spare you that.
Sunday night there is a Krewe Meet 'n Greet, details to be announced. Monday night there will be a Welcome Reception in the Expo center and after the that I'm pretty sure there is another Krewe event. Tuesday is the Jam Session at House of Blues. I think the Springboard party will be on Wednesday, details to be announced. There are usually a few other vendor parties too.
To keep up with what's going on, the best bet is the Krewe. The website, http://www.techedkrewe.com, has a calendar that's easy to check. I highly recommend you also join the Krewe's group on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheKrewe, if you haven't already, and follow @TheKrewe on Twitter. Keep active in the community here, Facebook, Twitter, and anywhere else you can and you should have plenty to do every night.
If you're a customer of a TechEd sponsor or exhibitor, ask your sales rep if they are having any customer receptions or parties during TechEd. Or stop by the booth and ask. The worst thing they can say is no.
If you work with Exchange or Lync, Jeff Guillet coordinates a UC Roundtable event which gives you a chance to chat with people from the product teams and your peers (and usually have some food and drinks too). That will show up on the calendar that Shane referenced.
Evening events are posted to the TechEd agenda: Monday: TechExpo Welcome Reception Tuesday: Ask the Experts/Jam Sessions Thursday: Closing Attendee Party
I can't wait to get to TechEd, this will be my first conference outside of Cisco Live. That conference is a pretty darn good production. Can MS match? Also looking forward to partaking in some spirits and cigar chomping. Delicious. Will be staying at the Riverside hotel, north of the convention center if anyone is interested in having some drinks!
@warlord6: I've been thinking about to going to Cisco Live the last couple years. It has looked like it would be top notch. I can only go to one of the conferences and since I've already been to TechEd I've stuck with what I've known. Plus I've always gotten a lot out of TechEd. I'd be curious to get your perspective after TechEd compared to Cisco Live.
@warlord6: Since the Hilton Riverside is the "Official" hotel of The Krewe, you'll be in good company there.
I just sent an FB invite to join the group ! My third TechED and looking forward to meeting up and hanging out as well.
Hello, I just sent an invite as well. Its my first time attending in NOLA.
Is it worth going to the planned events or would it be better to find a local bar/club instead? First time TechEd and first time in NOLA!
bridog, all of the above. Go to the events, they are almost always in areas where you can easily go to another bar if it is not your cup of tea.
@bridog: I agree with Mr. Burrito. I go to as many events put on by MS and any other vendors to network. Then I go do my own thing if I want. The other positive about the sponsored things is there is usually some free food and drinks, if that's your thing.
I end up bringing my wife, so I don't usually go to the evening parties.
Sounds like they will be a lot of fun this year.
I'm running on company approved expenses and very little funds of my own so I don't plan on attending any non-planned events/bars, the theKrewe related or TechEd related, and probably not many of those.
For additional details on evening events, check out the just posted TechEd North America Connect Page.
