@KenIngram:Lucky you I booked the JW Marriott almost 4 weeks ago and my status still shows as "Sent". No official confirmation yet.
@Scottee25 Hotel confirmations should typically be received within 14 business days. If it takes longer than that, please contact the TechEd Registration Team a call at +1 (866) 812-1211 or send them an email at TechEdNA2013@microsoft.crgevents.com to find out the status. Do not contact the hotels directly as the reservation process is managed through the reservation team and not the hotels.
@DBegley:I sent them an email earlier in the week. They informed me that the hotels are running behind getting confirmations sent out and that I shouldn't worry about the "Sent" status. Wasn't exactly what I was hoping for as I would prefer to have an actual confirmation number in hand. If I don't have anything back from the hotel in 2 more weeks, I may need to call rather than email.
Today, I FINALLY got my email with a confirmation number in it...and I registered the first day it was open(Feb 12th I think?)....better late than never!!
If I had to make any comment for area that needs improvement up to this point it would be the Hotel registration.
It took an unreasonable amount of time to get the confirmation but also my work is sending me to TechEd so naturally our Accounting Department are wanting a receipt for the company credit card transation used for the Hotel booking and I have yet to get anything.
I called the Hotel themselves and gave them my confirmation number but they hadn't even charged the card as yet so they couldn't fax me a receipt of the transaction. So, needless to say, the Accounts Payable person is hounding me regularly for some paperwork that I can't get.
@MikeRigsby: You won't get charged or therefore get a receipt until you check out. I don't work in accounting so I might not get it all but there is nothing for them to track yet. You might have used their card to hold the room but it won't affect them until you check in, they'll get a hit to make sure you have necessary funds and it will place a hold. That hold won't be an actual charge until you check out. At least thats how I've gathered it works from the acct aspect. I've had a ton of issues the past few years and have dealt with the acct. dept. a lot as far as how my corporate card worked when attending a conference.
@khaos13 makes sense. I'm just a bit concerned because it's not like I'll have the card with me. It's a company card held by our Accounting Manager.
Right now I'm envisioning landing in New Orleans for TechEd and ending up sleeping in a park for the entire convention due to some payment snafu.
Looks like I'm having to get a Credit Card Authorization form filled out and returned to the hotel. Since this is something that's not mentioned in the registration process this might be something folks need to keep in mind if they're going for a company paid event.
That makes sense. I always have a travel card with me. I can use that for the hotel, food, baggage fees, parking, etc.
Yeah the card that paid for the convention and hotel is a company card that I won't actually even have on me so that causes the need for the extra paperwork.
Sundry other expenses I'll pay for and just get reimbursed when I return.
@MikeRigsby: I know of a nice park close to the convention center that you can sleep in. It's right on Convention Centre Blvd and John Churchill Chase Street. These are the GPS coordinates in case you need them. 29.940558,-90.065264
@nothatsyou hah, yeah I've already been joking on Twitter about how part of my #theKrewe initiation will be having to spend the week of TechEd sleeping in a park.
@MikeRigsby:Jokes? Uh ya...anyway, it's a nice park. Nothing but the best for the Krewebies.
