Do you have a question or input regarding PreCon 9: Hybrid Identity in a World of Consumerization w/John Craddock? Add to this thread and we'll make sure it is seen by the content team! Thanks!

FYI: The abstract for this PreCon is:
Many of us have been cocooned in an Active Directory environment, where Single-Sign-On (SSO) and Kerberos authentication has become the norm. But now we need to give our users access to applications and services that are public cloud based, on devices we do not control. And of course the mirror, where partners and users are using social media identity and need access to our applications and services, be they running on-premises or in a cloud environment. It's time to stretch the boundaries and encompass identity from multiple sources, a true identity mashup. What's more, users expect SSO and to be able to use their own devices to access applications regardless of whether those devices are based on Windows, iOS, or Android. Come to this seminar and discover how ADFS and the Web Application proxy in Windows Server 2012 R2 combines with Active Directory, partner identity, Windows Azure Active Directory identity services, and create solutions that will take identity into the future. Add support for BYODs via Workplace Join, management via Windows InTune, additional security through authentication policies with multi-factor authentication and you are good to go. John Craddock, who has worked with AD and federated identity since the beginning, peels back the onion skin and shows you what's really going on; be prepared to go deep. The pre-con is packed with demos and troubleshooting tips and tricks. Don't miss out, sign-up now.

My question is related to how this can this be done when you do not have a Global AD but have 140 plus AD forest you wish to align.

@BMWatPwC: Difficult to answer with out more information.

    Lots of questions to start.

Why do you have 140 forests? Are there trusts between them? Are they single domain? Are they all account forests? What resources do you need access to? Who needs access to the resources? Do you need access to resources for partners and customers? Do you require access from the Internet? What remote access solutions do you currently have? What version of the AD are you running in the forests?

And there would be lots more questions! I am happy to discuss your environment with you during TechEd

What time does this session start and how long is it?  I'll need to know so I can plan my travels accordingly.

*update* I found my answer: This is an all-day seminar that runs from 9-5 so I'd really need to arrive on Saturday to attend this Sunday event.

@MrShannon:I am glad you found the answer. I look forward to meeting you on Sunday.

How about something around  "Workplace Join" device authentication and Office365 access (E.g. Outlook 2013 access from a "trusted device")?

@fvanrijt:The precon will cover the integration of the Microsoft Azure Active Directory (O365 tenant) and on-premises AD with AD FS. Workplace join is also covered in detail, put the two together and it should meet your requirements.

I greatly look forward to this precon.  It focuses on exactly where we want to go.  Mr. Craddock is a great speaker and I have learned tons the past two years attending TechEd sessions from him.

    Hello TechEd Europe,

If you are trying to decide on this precon maybe some feedback from TechEd North America will help. A big thanks to everyone who provided feedback, here is just a small selection. If you have any questions - please ask away.

Great job setting up the demo environment. Really comprehensive use cases scenarios. Great speaker as always, really satisfied

John Craddock offered a very unique perspective in this session that combined his deep knowledge of Identity Management, Cloud Computing, Security and Application code integration for single sign-on that delivered an exceptionally well rounded pre-conference session. The presentations and content were of a very high quality and the demos following them were very thorough and informative. This was a excellent session with a lot of content delivered over a course of one day. John's deep knowledge and personality complimented these sessions where he showed intrigue and eagerness to respond to all questions posed to him, whilst prompting to audience to even ask more. He kept the session engaging and enthralling. Hope to see John more often in future TechEds as he brings a very unique perspective that comes from a breath of real world systems that is not often found in the Microsoft conferences. The perspective of non-microsoft computing platforms that also need to integrate into this technology along with the historical evolution of this space with the current trends.

Way more information than I could process but able to take that and prioritize it for further deeper discovery. Great mix of talking and live presentation - balance was really good. Would definitely recommend this session. Don't normally max out the ratings but earned in my estimation.

    Hi John,

Attended your Hybrid Identity pre con and really enjoyed it.  We are in the process of implementing Office 365 with our ADFS Service and I had a quick question you may be able to provide some guideance on.

I'm trying to connect our Office 365 installation to our ADFS service and am running into a problem with the Set-MsolAdfscontext -Computer <AD FS server FQDN>command failing.  Should this be my federation name or one of my ADFS servers? The more I look at the syntax I'm thinking ADFS server.  But not sure.

    Thanks,

    Hi Kevin,

You are correct, it is the ADFS server. This should be the primary server if you have a WID farm.

    Hi John,

I've seen your presentations a couple of times in the past and they are always interesting, thanks for the great contribution!

I'm scheduled for this precon in europe and are wondering if you are going to present some regarding compatibility issues with other federated identity solutions (shibboleth)?

    /Ulf
