    Simple enough question:

Is there a way to programmatically restart an ASP.NET application?

To restart an AppPool in IIS6, you can use System.DirectoryServices code:
    http://weblogs.asp.net/avnerk/archive/2005/10/09/427075.aspx

For IIS5's isolation model, you could do something very similar - connect to the Application using DirectoryServices using syntax like this:
http://server/w3svc/1/ROOT/path/to/app (warning: from memory. Replace 1 with your virtual server #)
At this point you can .Invoke() calls to AppEnable and AppDisable. Maybe AppUnload would be the best thing.
