I am trying to open a xml file in a winform to edit. When I do a multi line textbox the formatting is pretty much lost. If I do a rich text box it seems that it is invoking some other process to open the file.

Is there another control or property I am overlooking that can display the source of a text file that maintains its text format?

What formatting are you referring to?

If I load an XML file into a TextBox I get the same results as notepad.

Me.RichTextBox1.LoadFile doesn’t work, you would have to populate it manually.

The formatting I am referring to is how the xml looks in notepad,IE,ect. I realize now my issue is how I am reading the text from the xml file.

Funny you should mention it... I just read a Michael Kaplan post about XML and edit controls.  Let me guess, instead of line endings you get the little rectangle?
