    Hi,
Will installing the latest ctp of sql 2008 mess up my 2005 installation and will it come off cleanly?

Its my own machine but would rather not have to reinstall it. I know, I know virtual machines are safer but not sure I can be bothered.

    Ditto.

Plus Virtual PC is free for just this kind of thing....
yes you have to take time to set up the VM but then you can make a dozen copies of the VHD file and test all kinds of stuff w/o hosing your main system.

Well, you can't install SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 side by side so yes, it will cause you problems.

However, it has a Go Live license and I don't think there are many changes to the actual engine.

However, Virtual Machines are always the best route to go.

Yeah I think it will have to be virtual pc route. It looks like it has some good features worth playing around with especially in reporting.
