I'm an art student looking to use blob tracking through Kinect and OpenCV for an interactive installation which tracks the proximity and speed of people on a staircase and reacts using sound.
As processing and programming are quite foreign to me, do you guys have any recommendations on how viable this endeavour is and how it might be done?
Thanks a lot,
Proximity to what, other people? And the speed of people is what you need?
@Ion Todirel: Basically, the idea is that people using mobile phones on the stair don't look where they're going - so I want to create a 'smart staircase' which acts like a parking sensor by detecting if someone is approaching and makes some kind of beeping noise. I also want it to map their speed so that if they stop on the stairs or move too slowly it will make a series of beeping sounds so they speed up. Can this be done?
@Ion Todirel: like a parking sensor by detecting if someone is approaching and makes some kind of beeping noise.
What if your beep scares the people on the stairs and they trip?
It seems easy enough. Proximity would just be tracking the person's location and speed is measuring that location across frames. I believe Processing already has a toolbox for doing human detection.
