Silverlight 4 OOB webbrowser keeps showing script errors

I'm currently trying to build an app that connects with Facebook. I first tried going at it by myself. Everytime the browser loads up a page it shows some script error or the other mostly along the lines of this object does not exist. So then I went along with the facebook C# SDK hosted on codeplex and tried to follow their steps. No go.

I keep getting a script error no matter what site I try to open. Anyone know what's up with this. Extremely frustrating to encounter an error like this right at the start of my project.

For the login screen of the authentication process I get the error at line 5 char 1 (starting of the script) saying object doesn't support this property or method. I click yes to keep running scripts and then once I log in it should redirect to a page I've hosted on my IIS which contains a simple window.external.notify(window.location.href) line. This time I get an unspecified error. Any idea anyone?

PS - I'm using IE9 beta. But my friend who ran tests for me said he wasn't affected. I will gladly provide as much detail as is needed that I can provide to anyone who can help. Thank you.

first i would say to go back to IE8

a *LOT* of web sites will not handle IE9 right now, some web sites may send you to the mobile version of the site, others may think you are running IE 4 and give really funky html and so on...

so see what happens with IE8

Second is that Facebook and Twitter have at times changed API stuff W/O much warning and been hard to work with... so make sure you have the right stuff on how they work *NOW* and not last year.

@figuerres: Thanks for the reply. I actually managed to get in touch with the team working on Silverlight, kudos to Scott for taking time to put me in touch with the necessary people, and they have identified it as an issue.

On a side note, IE9 does NOT have issues with FB. In fact FB was one of the launch partners who had made their site compatible for pinned apps.

Anyways, stay tuned. I shall post updates as and when I get them. Smiley

i installed  IE9 last week I like it .It does have issue's though but eventually they will be solved one issue is that Silverlight is not compatible with IE9 according to a popup when I try to  open an app while viewing Bing maps . I have a servie call placed to Micro soft and they are going to contsct me with in 24 hrs, unless some has a fix . I dont want to  return to IE8, Im already hooked on 9,but need Silverlight.

I just discovered that the issue is not with IE9 but with the R2 version or should I say when running 64bit windows 7 Silverlight is not compatable but doing the exact same thing, as mentioned earlier with bing maps, on 32bit version Windows 7 and IE9 everything works well. so my conclusion is that its a 64bit windows 7 issue and not a IE9 issue. Ihave also noticed that Adobe and also Java have similar issue's of incompatibility with the 64bit version as well, but for every problem there are many solutions.
