Weird WP7 sound issue.

Thought I was lucky to pick up a bargain (almost new)  LG Optimus on eBay - but it has a strange issue.

Here are a few of the symptoms:

    • Can only hear Zune music/videos and System/App/Game noises if I plug in headphones*
    • Phone rings but when I answer I can only converse if I use the speaker setting.

Others have reported similar issues but these 'go away' with a reboot, (with this phone they don't).

In all other respects the phone works perfectly.

     * Conversly the phone ringer works, as do alarms, (changing settings or reseting the phone makes no difference).  Vibration works just fine as well.

    Anyone have any ideas?

How many WP7 devices does your household own now anyway Ian?

@Ian2: If you had bought it new, I'd say contact LG, but since you got it secondhand, I'm not sure what your options are. It definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me.

Warranties don't expire when ownership changes. The phone can't be more than a few months old, so it should be covered for another 9 months at least.

My gut feeling was that it is a hardware issue but having read this thread I now think it might be an obscure software bug.

@Ian2: I had the same problem with my Optimus 7. I had to send it in twice for repair and it took almost 2 months for them to understand and repair the problem. They told me that they had to change parts, so it seems like a hardware problem.

@mawcc:Thanks for the info, might contact LG and see if they will do a warranty repair
