I want to make an application which sends data to mysql server using windows phone. Can anyone help with that. Thanks in advance
you should start looking up the topic "Web Services" and learn about them.
you can do them several ways some are easy to do and some will take more work.
if the MySQL db is running on a Linux system you may want to setup a REST/JSON or REST/XML service on the web server on that server. I have normally done wcf and asmx style services from a .net web server.
in general what happens is code runs on the web server that can talk to your database.
the app on the phone has a url to connect to and a set of service methods it can call.
the phone app has no idea that the backend is using Linux or MySQL and does not care.
if you are going to also have an app for android or IOS / iPhone then build to have one web service work for all different clients you may ever make. then you will not have to repeat the work.
@figuerres:Indeed, especially considering that continuous database connection won't work well in cellular connections, where the user will keep connecting to different access points as they're moving. If any user started a transaction and caused some page locks, then move on to another access point, the database will lock other victims 30 seconds before the lock is released.
