Another great video Charles! Good explanations and good technical stuff. Also like the fact he clearly stated the no-go stuff about re-JIT it really helps make it less of a "trying to sell the feature" video.
However i do concur with the overwelming oppinion that the C++ renaisanse has taken over the technical content on C9 like a tsunami. It seems most good technical content is produced by you (always has been) at it all focusses on C++. The "Checking In" show is also very good, but it has less whiteboard action and is more about talking and discussing instead of explaining a (new)technology.
I do hope to learn more about WinRT , .NET 4.5 , await/async , Silverlight 5, Windows XAML in true old school C9 style. Right now we have to look trough a huge list of sessions from events, and those do not include the back and forth question style we love in C9 video's.
Great show guys! Thank you for the shoutout Nic! Great C9 and other combinations and great questions. Only got to watch it few days later this week.
I'm also happy Brian said he missed the creating ISO images, I was missing that to. Lets just hope they have a more easy way to set a VHD to be bootable once you mounted it. It would be awesome if you could mount a VHD Brian created to test out TFS and just boot from it with a reboot.
To give some perspective. I have downloaded this entire series and am ready to play them on my Media Center tv on my next 2 going away parties. I'm moving to Seattle to come and work for Microsoft at the end of this month and want everybody to get a clue what the Microsoft Campus feels like. So this is really a very very very good series. Thank for it!
It's called 7.1 because the build number is 7.1 (just like in VS project types). Its like Windows 7 being version number 6.x , they have not announced it officially it will be Windows Phone 7.5 , they keep calling it Mango and marketing will change it in 7.5 when launched.
User testing, also know as acceptence testing is usually the final stage of testing. After testing you release the app in the store. So most of the time it comes before writing it.
Great to hear more stories from C9. I missed the rugged pc video and will now watch it! More stories is good, it brings more content and makes the show a bit longer.Nic his questions were great again, and really ad value to the story being told.
UPDATE: the link to the rugged pc video does not work, so I guess I'm of to a search in the wild wild west of video's on C9 , Although i just found it copy and pasting the title into the search box. Video was very good!
Nice video. I think I knew most of the shortcuts and features but I just shared the video with my Facebook friends and I'm sure a lot of them will learn new stuff.
It's a shame the "activate windows when hover" function does not seem to work when hovering over the actual window content. At least if I have a dual monitor setup and have IE running on both I can't just start scrolling in the other windows when I hover over the web page. I need to hover over the titlebar/top.
And Speech Recognition is not available if you have a non-English version of Windows. So that really sucks, because I can speek English but my desktop is in Dutch because I bought it in Belgium.
Sticky keys is fun to make somebody freaky because of the noises there pc makes when pushing buttons. Feels like a bomb will explode, ha!
@gduncan411: Sure that is reasonable. I was just pointing out the obvious, i do like the non C9 news to, but at least the 'viral' C9 videos could use a shoutout. That or change the name of the show to "This week on MSDN".
Great show! I love the fact Nic really asks about the stuff and lets somebody really explain it. Playing dumb makes the topics more clear for people who have never heard of them, and makes you want to read more.
The topics do not really cover Channel 9 anymore though (as I read somewhere before). Why not talk about video's from charles or recomend some other videos? The Browse section grows so big every week, most of which do not make it to the front page. TWC9 used to be the show you watched to know if you missed any interesting videos on the C9 webpage.
Also , there is still a buzzing sound in the background of the show, altough it's not as bad as last week.
