"int" and "identity" are stringly typed, are there any plans to make those strongly typed?
Do migrations delete data? For small startups, the Developers are sometimes the DBA's. And it's convenient to build and deploy from Visual Studio, once to Dev and once to Production. If we use this example, i.e. add a Column of "Last Name" will any records be deleted, or will the column just be added?
Love it, keep the goodness coming. I have a simple feature request, in Hyper-V Manager (henceforth known as Verti-Flex), can you make it so we can see all the VM's for all our Hyper-V machines. We have some deployments that necessitate that our Hyper-V Servers not be clustered or have VMM. For those instances it's a bunch of extra clicks to monitor what's going on for all the Hyper-V boxes. It would be sweet if the manager didn't crash as much, do you guys get telemetry on that? That program crashes so often on a multitude of deployments.
Re-balancing is an excellent feature for the new domain node, but will re-balancing work on existing storage pools? For instance in 2012 R2 a storage pool was created, if I add disks to that pool, I cannot re-balance. Are you saying that in Windows 10 Server we will be able to add more disks and re-balance, even on a single node?
Great progress, but as IT manager I am concerned the push of all the new features to Azure won't carry down to the local installs of Server. Is any of the work going to migrate down and be made available to those not utilizing Azure services?
I know corporate is pushing for cloud everything. But we (VAR/OEM) are not pushing our clients to 365. Making 1$-2$ per month per user, is not worth selling. We would much rather make the margins of OEM licensing at $25-50/license off a one time sale.
