Its been over 10 years since I was inside a large software company, but I think I notice some old familiar syndromes. THe video speaks volumns on what can be done differently at microsoft -- the manager is not aware of what anyone on the outside world
is doing with their software. I think it would be great if everyone at microsoft got more industry experience by working at a completely different engineering firm for 3 months of every year. THis would reduce the insularity, open minds to true adherence to
industry-wide technical standards, and lead to some fresh ideas.
