  • IE9 stopped working after installing Bitdefender 2013

Does System Restore provide any useful restore points?

I hadn't thought of doing a system restore.  What would happen, if I restored to some point before I took off the old AV and put on the new one, given that the old one isn't installed anymore and the new one is?

@RodAtWork:What, if any, error message do you see? Can you browse in other browsers?

There are no error messages at all.  It just never goes to any web page.

I only have IE installed.  And naturally, now that I can't get to the web at all from the PC, I can't download anything else and put it there.

Did it set up a proxy by any chance? Check Tools / Internet Options / Connections / Lan Settings

I've checked, and it hasn't set up a proxy.

  • IE9 stopped working after installing Bitdefender 2013

I recently purchased Bitdefender Internet Suite 2013. On Saturday I uninstalled my old AV and put on Bitdefender. During the registration process, something went wrong, because after filling out the registration details, and then clicking on the submit button, the page just went blank. Now, I can't browse the web at all. My email still works; my IM still works; but browsing the Web is impossible. Last night I tried to see how extensive the problem was, by attempting to bring up the web interface to my router, but even that failed. I've called Bitdefender and left messages on their online web forms (using a different computer) in an attempt to get this problem resolved, but Bitdefender hasn't responded to any of my messages.

I could uninstall Bitdefender, and I will if I don't get any help from them today, but before I do that I'd like to know how to get IE9 able to browse again.

  • Need a quick primer on using InfoPath

    @JohnAskew: makes sense, thanks.

  • SkyDrive: What happens to a synced folder, if the PC dies?

I've got a 3 year old PC I use for development.  Its been fine, but is beginning to show some problems.  I've not synced any folders with SkyDrive, because I'm very concerned what happen if I loose my HD or the PC suddenly and fatally crashes.  Will I loose all of the files and folders in a synced folder from SkyDrive?  The folder I want to sync will have vital documentation in it, which I can't loose, so I don't want SkyDrive thinking that just because the HD may disappear on me, it should then blow it away out of my SkyDrive.

  • Outlook.com and WP7

I saw the notice that Microsoft was going to deprecate Hotmail and replace it, eventually with Outlook.com.  I went to my Hotmail account and changed to the new UI right away, and I really love it!

But I've got a serious question I'd need answered.  It's my understanding that Hotmail and all of it's various email addresses (hotmail.com and live.com) will eventually be going away.  I got the feeling that it would be a good idea to get an outlook.com email address as soon as prudently possible.  Well, my wife and I both have a Windows Phone (currently on the Mango release 7.5), and both of our phones are associated with our Hotmail accounts.  How do we move that to a new outlook.com account?  I've not seen anything anywhere about this, and I'm sure that others are like us and kind of confused as to what the next step(s) are.

Wow, the death of Hotmail... Never thought I'd see the day. Outlook.com looks much better.

I agree, I thought I'd never see the day that Hotmail went away.  But boy, do I like the new UI for Outlook.com!

Did you try Bing/Google? Took all of 10 seconds to find this Wink  :

To remove it afterwards, go to settings -> Email And Accounts. Press and hold on the account to get the context menu, which has a delete option.

WOW, that worked like a charm.  Thanks!

@ZippyV: I tried setting up Lightswitch, but got lots of failures.  And as often happens with me, other priorities take over and so I can't return back to it.
