The victory of design over useability? I think so. It seems like there's a lack of understanding about what workaday developers want at the top of Microsoft. While design is very important, you have to keep designers on a short leash. For the love of Melinda, can't we just get better usability without having to put up with some designer's (wet) dream of changing the world? Keeping the user interface similaris not sexy, but it's probably what the majority of us (desktop) business developers want. Not envelopes pushed, or paradigms shifted...just better usability.
And don't get me started on the wisdom of forcing the mobile device UI on desktop developers' daily work environment in Windows 8.
Finally, I've been a HUGE Microsoft cheerleader in the past. My enthusiasm continues to be moderated as time goes on. I hope Microsoft listens to its biggest evangelists: the desktop developers of the business world.
