3 ms lag seems pretty low. The IMU for Oculus was targeting 20 ms of latency. Were you talking about the latency between positional updates or a different kind of latency -- as far as I know, human beings can't recognize lag at that level and even pilots, who have excellent visual perception, can recognize only about 5 ms.
