Auto Shutdown and Auto Start an Azure VM
That is correct. However, shutting down a VM over the Azure control plane for example the Azure portal or as I showed in the video with the automation task, will also deallocate the VM.
If you shut down the operating system inside the VM, then you are correct, this will not deallocate the VM and not save cost.
