20 minutes, 18 seconds

Right click “Save as…”

This is the fourth and final part of the build your first Windows Store app with Visual Basic video series. In this video, you'll learn how to use the File Picker API, how to do data bind properties of a file to controls, and we'll show how to preserve access to a file for later use using the StorageApplicationsPermissions class.

[01:21] Step 1: Use a File Picker to get an image file
[09:13] Step 2: Bind UI controls to file data
[12:10] Step 3 : Save and load state

  • Well done, DAN ! Thanks for the VB series of Video on Windows 8. Is very helpful to me and thank you very much indeed.  Looking forward to see more advance VB example video in future...

  • Raja Venkateshrrvenki Its too wonderful to be spent worrying...

I was struggling with few items like default font at page level etc.  I've been working in Silverlight 1.1 through 5.1.  Migration to Win8 was easy.  This series gave a heads up on many items.

Any plans for a wizard to convert Silverlight Business Application to Win8 App?

If you could come up with advanced features... will also be great.  Tablets with USB2/3 as future, we seriously look forward at Microsoft to support LinkPoke property of Textbox...  Will sure be multi device communication hit...

    Great job.  VB always Rocks.
