    Regarding SQL Server in Azure VM (IaaS):
    Notice that customers with Software Assurance 1) get access to BYOL images in the Azure Gallery to use existing licenses super easily and
    2) get the benefit of a free license for a passive secondary replica (e.g. AlwaysOn), just as on-premises

    Hi Luis,

    Is there a way of using the Alwayson sql server cluster template without paying for SQL enterprise on the secondary?

    It feels like the secondary being passive should not charge for sql enterprise licenses.
